Even if you’ve never known of the technical name of a Facebook Business Page, it is quite unlikely that you have never seen one either. The reach it can provide is tremendous.
What are Facebook Business Pages?
If you’ve ever gone through the contact details of any new-age company or even the established corporate behemoths, chances are you’ve noticed a link to their Facebook pages.
A Facebook Business Page is simply the presence of your brand on Facebook. Much like your personal page, this page represents your brand or company. It allows potential customers to know about you or existing customers to reach out to you.
Ok, but are Facebook Business Pages really any good?
Facebook has come to be the default homepage of many a people. Therefore, it becomes the easiest, quickest and cheapest way to reach out to more people. By making an official page on Facebook, your business will become discoverable. You can also connect directly to your customers, have a one-on-one conversation with them, invite feedback, resolve complaints and get more people to talk about you and your business. You can also grow your presence by regularly posting updates about your business, having people read, like and share your posts too!
If you didn’t think Facebook was the most cost effective way to gain more business, it’s time to think again!
That sounds amazing! But this sounds like it must involve a lot of work.
Creating a Facebook Business Page is child’s play. It is a simple 4-step process.
Really? I’m very interested. Get me started now! Tell me how to create a Facebook Business Page.
Well, obviously you need to have a Facebook account first.
Well, OBVIOUSLY. Who isn’t on Facebook?
Exactly! And you were wondering if Facebook business pages were any good!
Haha! All right, you got me! Guide me through the process.
Once you’ve logged in through your account, go to the top right corner and click on ‘Create Page’. The page should look something like this.
When you click on that, you will be presented with the following options:
- Local Business or Place
- Company, Organisation or Institution
- Brand or Product
- Artist, Band or Public Figure
- Entertainment
- Cause or Community
Choose the category that defines your business. If you are a local eatery or boutique or have local presence in any form, choose ‘Local Business of Place’.
If you are an established MNC or are present nationwide or are registered as a company, select ‘Company, Organisation or Institution’.
If you are a brand of, say, cosmetics or apparel, then select ‘Brand or Product’.
If you are a rockstar, a performing artist or any famous personality, or in any way reach out to the larger audience, select ‘Artist, Band or Public Figure’ (and send us your contact details!)
If you belong to the entertainment industry through your own book series, albums, concerts, events etc. then you will fall under ‘Entertainment’.
If your page is to support any social cause or initiative, select ‘Cause or Community’. More power to you!
If the name you enter has already been taken, Facebook will throw up some interesting alternatives.
Once you have selected the broader category of your page, select the sub-category. Be sure to choose a category that best matches your business. After that, provide some basic information such as the name of your business or the cause you’re fighting for.
That’s it! Just click on ‘Get Started’ which assumes that you’ve read the Facebook Pages Terms (we all know no one reads that!).
And you are done!
Wow. That’s quite simple. What do I do now?
Now that you have created your page, you need to provide information about the work you do. Anything you do after this will affect the look and feel of your page.
This option will allow you multiple ways of reaching out. It is up to you to utilise it in the best manner.
Start by adding a description of your company/brand/product. Also put a link to your website if you have one.
Make sure to put a relevant yet catchy profile picture. Visually engaging the customer is the most effective way of advertising.
To make sure you yourself don’t have to look for your page, add it to your Favourites. This way you will have easy access to it when you log in.
With Reach More People, you can start reaching new audiences immediately.
Click Save Info and your Page is ready to go live!
That’s it? Superb. What next?
You are now the proud administrator (or admin) of your very own Facebook Business Page. Congratulations!
You can control the contents and settings on your page with your Page Admin Tools. You can even add someone to help you manage the page with making changes in your settings.
Enhance your page by putting in basic information about your company in the ‘About’ section. It is one of the first places people will look when they’re scanning your page. Providing brief and descriptive narration of the company can help potential customers get a sense of what your page is about before they decide to like you or contact you. Adding milestones will help create creditworthiness.
Tell me something more. Tell me how can I ensure my page becomes successful?
There are many ways to ensure your FB Business Page is catchy and potentially successful.
- Add relevant and engaging profile and cover photos
Typically putting the company logo as the profile picture and the tagline/slogan/motto as the cover photo provides instant recognisability to the page. The cover photo can also be a pictoral representation of what the company stands for.
You can go a step ahead and integrate the two.
- Add a Call-To-Action (CTA) button to the cover photo
Facebook allows adding any of the seven pre-made call-to-action buttons to your Facebook Page’s cover photo – “Sign Up,” “Shop Now,” “Contact Us,” “Book Now,” “Use App,” “Watch Video,” and “Play Game” — and customize it with a destination URL of your choosing. This is an excellent way to drive traffic from a Facebook Business Page back to the website.
- Posting photos and videos
Photos and videos have proven to be the most engaging types of content on Facebook. Keeping the page active and visually engaging increases visibility of the page.
- Be socially active
Make sure you respond to comments from customers or enquiries from potential clients in a timely manner.
